As we gathered together with the Wichita saints in front of George Tiller's third trimester abortion mill, Flip Benham reminded us that Memorial Day used to be called Decoration Day. This was when the graves of those who have fallen in battle were decorated.
He determined to lead us to decorate the graves of two virtues that have fallen in our society; the grave of Fatherhood and the grave of Liberty . We mourned the loss that has led us to the place where we are today, hanging in the valley between Judgment and Mercy.
As we were setting up for this service of pledging allegiance to the Flag, the Christian Flag and the Bible, singing songs of worship, honoring of veterans that were present, and being exhorted by men of God who have scars to show their involvement in the battle for our culture, Pastor Mark Hollick was assaulted by the security guard from Tiller's mill. We have on video this guard, packing a gun, literally pushing Pastor Mark full force.
What do you think the police did?
Nothing.
Even though they were right there, they claimed to have not seen it. So the video was shown to them. They said they had not seen it actually happen, so that didn't count.
We mourn the loss of Liberty .
The inaction of the police thus inspired this security guard to go further in his attempts to silence the people of God. During the preaching, he operated a noise-making machine to cause a disturbance. He then proceeded to drive an asphalt truck through the street that we had a permit to block for our gathering and then attempted to drive it through the entry where we were gathered. It was breath-taking to witness the men of God gather in front of the entryway in determined prayer, knowing that this "loose cannon" could very well run them over, and would have done so if one of the policeman had not talked him out of it.
They took a very courageous stand at that moment.
My sons, Elijah and Micah, saw what was happening and ran to their Daddy to stand with him, their Bible in hand.
There's no doubt in my mind that these men, young and old, would have given their very lives at that moment, for the glory of God and His babies made in His image.
It made me proud to be a Christian.
