May 28 Report
By Brenda Spurlock
Rob and Dawn Vardin and the Dan Wood's family, friends of Gib from Nebraska, joined the Walk Across America team on their walk into the city of Wichita. They met up with 40 or 50 Wichita friends at City Hall where they held a press conference and a court of sorts. Flip said, "The gist of our message was, it takes a city to kill a child. It takes the complicity of the police department, businesses, the city council, courts, hospitals, etc., to kill a child" He said, "We are all of us responsible." He said, "We focused on the fact that abortion will not come to an end in Wichita until the churches decide it will end."
Flip said they pointed out the horrific way the City of Wichita attempted to censor the gospel in 2001. "Never had the city denied a parade permit to anyone for anything except Operation Save America when we were coming to bring the gospel," he said. In March of this year OSA won a court case against the city. The city was ordered to pay the legal fees of our attorneys, Rick Nelson, Don McKinney and Rick Macias. All together the city will spend several hundred thousand dollars for denying OSA's First Amendment rights.
From City Hall the group marched to the doors of Planned Parenthood (about 3 miles away from City Hall), as a police helicopter circled over head. The helicopter was still there later when they went to lunch. It followed them to CiCi's Pizza. |
