Mercy needed a shoe replaced, so when the team reached Fruita, Colorado, they found a farrier for her. Her left rear hoof continues to be tender. Unfortunately, when the farrier tried to nail her shoe on, she kicked him. Some of our guys took him to a clinic to get his hand sewed up and used the opportunity to minister to him and to his fiancé.
Flip said their journey through the uninhabited parts of the desert has been long and, at times, dismal and dreary. They've had some "trying times," is the way he put it. She attended his Bible Study for three years. In addition to the bountiful spread they prepared, she and Brian gave a large sacrificial gift to help our Road Warrior's on their journey.
Flip said they're still traveling Interstate 70, but the shoulder of the road where they walk has gotten very narrow. The speed limit is 75 mph and there are plenty of big trucks whipping by. The animals have behaved beautifully through it all though, he said.
Tomorrow they should make it into Grand Junction where the Thomas family will be waiting to greet them. It will be a tender family reunion as Rusty meets his newest daughter, Torah Grace, for the first time.
