Flip and crew are at Eagle Baptist Church in Eagle, CO. At 6:30 this morning they traveled with Pastor Dunston 40 miles to Burns, CO, to a log house church where Pastor Dunston ministers to about 40 ranchers. Flip said, "They wore cowboy hats and boots and when we talked with them we quickly learned that they understand this battle we're in!" He said, "They're not afraid to call homosexuality sin or abortion murder!" He said the pastor preached a tremendous message. "That makes the difference," he said. "They don't get this seeker friendly, afraid to offend, stuff. They're familiar with the old, old message that we've always known and believed."
Flip said they came back to Eagle and attended Sunday School and heard Pastor Dunston's stirring sermon from Ezekiel 18. Pastor spoke from the pulpit about what happened to our team in Rifle. He told the congregation that someone has been passing the word around that our Walk Across America saints kill abortionists. He said, "Why.....they haven't blown up an abortionist in over a week!" The surprised laughter eased the tension of the past few days. It emphasized the silliness of the slander that has been circulating.
Pastor told Flip that the year prior to the Columbine massacre, the Littleton, CO, high school had offered a course about euthanasia. If it was like similar courses for teens in the Netherlands, where euthanasia is legal, they taught methods of committing suicide. Fifty percent of the Eagle Baptist Church congregation homeschool.
