"Riding through the desert on a horse with no name." That's sort of what Rusty and the Walk Across America team are being tempted to do right now. They have left San Bernardino and were beginning their way across the Mohave Desert when the RV broke down, again! There has been several times when 2 of the vehicles have given them grief.
The ministry itself is going great! They have had opportunities galore to minister the Gospel of Christ, to be a witness for the unborn, to pray for healings, and to call this nation to repentance. They have even found great favor with the police! But the transportation situation... is a little bleak.
Let's see, they had a few days' delay in starting the Walk, 2 days of being stranded (at a beautiful ranch, howbeit) and now they are delayed once again due to their transportation breakdowns. Please keep them in prayer regarding this. Also, if you have been considering supporting the Walk financially, this would be a great time to do so. Gas in CA has been app. $2.50 a gallon! I thought it was high here!
I know, I know, I thought they were supposed to be walking. Well, they are, but they do have to take the horse trailer, an RV to sleep in and set up their office in as well as a security vehicle that follows (our beloved Bro. Jim Phillips) and another truck for the advance team who goes before to set up for the press conferences in the middle of the cities (go, Gib!) and find the places for them to set up housekeeping for the night. This gets to be quite an expense.
Don't think we're complaining. God has been so faithful to provide for them. Churches have let them stay in their parking lots. When they broke down today, they just happened to be near a beautiful park. So, day by day, the Lord is making Himself and His provision known to them. It's incredible and will make a wonderful book some day.
Life has been turned upside down in the Thomas home as well, since the beginning of the “Walk.” With the battle continuing to rage in the City of Waco as well as the fact that we are anxiously awaiting the birth of our 10th child, which is due March 15, we cannot say life is boring for the remaining 3/4 of the Thomas Nation. Already the Lord has brought us through the conclusion of a congressional candidate's campaign we were volunteering for (Wes Riddle), being cited at Planned Parenthood and threatened with arrest, sinus infections and a mean stomach virus. God is faithful! We are so thankful for all those who have called, written and otherwise encouraged us while Rusty and my 2 faithful daughters have taken their leave. We were surprisingly blessed by Mr. Doel Garcia who brought us over some homemade chicken soup, crackers and Sprite when he found out we were ill. (yum! yum!)
When you have a chance, visit operationsaveamerica.org to read more about Rusty and Flip's adventures on the Walk, as well as to view the route that they are taking. You might want to check often because they will be submitting photos and writings regularly.
If you'd like to donate directly to the “Walk,” you will find out how to on the OSA site [Support Us on this site]. Donations to Elijah Ministries will be gratefully received at P.O.Box 3126 Waco, TX 76708.
Again, we thank you so much for your prayers and support during this time. They mean so much to us.
Love in Christ,
Liz Thomas
