Flip said he has received calls from pastors and congregation members in small towns where they've stayed, telling him what they are hearing about our team's visit to Rifle. The stories grow wilder and weirder with each passing day, (and we wonder how the Salem witch trials could have ever happened...??!!)
One mother informed townspeople that she went to our website and we are "the people that bomb abortion clinics and kill abortionists." Someone else has reported that our team used foul language. In fact, Flip complained to Police Sgt. Miles about the foul language used by the fella who tried to manhandle Curtis. The Sgt. said he could use any language he wanted to. Flip responded, "but we can't mention Jesus to these kids, is that it?" The Sgt. assured him that was, indeed, it.
Our team has been accused of harassing, haranguing and terrorizing the children. It was said that, after the police interrogation, the team deliberately followed the children. Flip said, "We were walking through town. There was only one route. It was inevitable that we would meet up with them again, if they remained in town." Interestingly enough, they did remain in town. If teachers were concerned that the kids had been traumatized and our team represented danger, there was ample time for "escape" while the interrogation was going on, yet they kept the kids in town.
Flip said the folks at the church, who were so kind to them, also came under attack for letting them stay on their parking lot." He said, "It seems that we will either have revival or riot, Christ or chaos." In the case of Rifle, Christ was shut out and chaos resulted.
He said when they came into town as a living parable showing the truth about the wickedness that is rampant in our land, and when they spoke the name of Jesus as Lord, "What happened was, we turned on the light and men love darkness."
"And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil." John 3:19
Flip said, "When the light comes on and men's evil deeds are exposed, they get angry!"
