May 24 Report
By Brenda Spurlock
Flip had a wonderful opportunity to renew his friendship with Don Mason, president of Central Christian College (CCC) in McPherson , KS , over the past couple of days. Daughter, Tracy, attended CCC for two years before finishing her four year degree at Dallas Baptist College . He said the team walked through McPherson this morning, stopping by the school on the way out of town. Dr. Mason brought out some of the staff who handed out water bottles to the team. Flip said Pastor Terry Post of Wheatland Baptist Church , where they've been staying, came to see them off and offer them encouragement.
When questioned about how the team is holding up physically to the daily grind of 15 or 16 miles, Flip admitted it is hard on everyone. He said Shekinah fainted dead away today. Fortunately she didn't wind up with even a scratch. Destiny took over carrying the baby casket while she rested. Flip said the trip requires great exertion by all. Even Judgment has been a bit gimpy lately. Flip said the Sunday rest did Judgment good.
He said, "As we've traveled east the wind has always been at our back, but when we turned south toward Wichita , suddenly for the first time in almost 1500 miles, we got the wind in our face." He said, "The first thing I thought of was that this is what happens when the church turns to contend with the devil. There's always going to be a battle." He said, "We've turned south towards Tiller who hires pastor George Gardner to baptize the dead babies he has killed."
Flip said, "Martin Luther said it best: 'If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the Word of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Him. Where the battle rages there the loyalty of the soldier is proved; and to be steady on all the battle front besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.'"
