Lessons Learned at the Gates: OSA-Jericho Mission Street Report, September & October 2004 "Could we with ink the ocean fill, and were the skies of parchment made, Were every stalk on earth a quill, and every man a scribe by trade, To write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry; Nor could the scroll contain the whole though stretched from sky to sky.” Meri Ben Isaac Nehoria (11th century Jewish poet) There is something wrong with our theology when the life of a baby becomes more important to us than the soul of the woman who is carrying that life. The battle that we have been called to fight at the abortion clinics is not just for the life of the child, but more importantly for the souls of the men and women who come to the clinic. I have been guilty of focusing so much on the plight of the baby that I have forgotten that truth sometimes. The baby can only lose its life, but the mother is in danger of losing her soul. Once she lies down on that table, Satan begins wrapping heavy chains around her soul that are impossible to break free from – aside from the power of the Cross. All of us have met people who are so consumed with anger and rage at the sight of the posters, and sometimes just our presence, that they practically slaver and foam at the mouth in their anger. It's like a case of spiritual rabies; the stricken individual is compelled to pass that disease on to others! We see the results in broken lives, broken marriages, repeat abortions, crazy laws and a world filled with aching hurting people whom Jesus came to save. I am convinced that abortion will never end, until we change our focus from the baby to the souls of those who come to the clinics. The gospel is the most powerful weapon on earth, it changes lives and rescues the souls of men and women who respond to its call. That is why it is so important that we have people at the mill for the post-abortion outreach. Otherwise our message is not the true gospel message. Jesus is waiting for each and every one of those women after the abortion, no matter if it is one abortion or thirty abortions. He loves them. He died so they could have eternal life. Even if they spurned Him going into the clinic, He is still waiting for them afterwards. Jesus came to seek the lost, and He has never changed that mission! And if my Lord is willing to die for these women, then I should feel the same about them. How about you? If you are willing to pray for them, to hand out information, we need you. Call Carole at 817-246-8137 for the times and days.
Our weekly prayer meeting is on Friday nights at 7pm. Our most powerful weapon is prayer. Come and intercede with us for our country and the outreaches we are involved in and to seek God's face. Here in Tarrant County, in addition to Planned Parenthood (PPH) based sex-education, we also have “gay” clubs in some of the public high schools. For the last couple of years, there has been a concentrated effort to get these disgusting sex-education programs out of the schools and replace them with programs that are in compliance with the Texas State Law that requires that abstinence be taught as the preferred method of sexual behavior in teenagers. However, Planned Parenthood has managed an end run around the law by teaching abstinence plus condoms and pills etc. Two of the worst programs are Up Close sponsored by the Women Center and the Wedge which is a gay advocacy program pushed by Mimi Hardy. Pressure from concerned parents resulted in Arlington Heights pulling the Up Close program and replacing it with an abstinence-only program. We have been working on identifying which schools have which programs, so we can specifically target the student body with the antidote to the poison that these groups are pushing. The schools with the PPH type sex-ed, we are going to hit with pro-life, pro-chastity information. The schools that are being targeted as recruiting grounds for homosexuals will be given information on what the Bible says about homosexuality and chastity. All of the schools will be targeted with the gospel message. The schools that don't have either program will be given a Ten-Commandment outreach along with the gospel. Jan Colston will be heading up the school outreach. Email her at colston@gbronline.com for dates, times and schools that we will be approaching. We are really excited about taking the gospel to the youth and hope you can join us. In the mighty name of Jesus, Carole LaFreniere Jericho Mission
