Dallas
Gay Pride Parade Proclamation
September
21st, 2003
By Ryan Kirchoff
OSA-Dallas Team Leader
"Because
that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were
thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart
was darkened." Romans 1:21 (KJV)
Great
sadness filled the hearts of the saints who gathered on Sunday to boldly
profess the name of Christ at Dallas’ 20th Annual “Gay Pride
Parade.” The sadness that came, though tempered with God’s
peace and joy despite the circumstances, was not a sadness due to a lost
battle or a feeling of defeat. Though not many people responded positively
to our message, we know that the battle is not ours. We also know that
we are more than conquerors through Christ. Defeat is no longer part of
who we are. Christ conquered, and proceeded to give us the victory as
well.

The
sadness that came was a sadness resulting from seeing first hand the devastating
affect of sin in one’s life. As various individuals or pairs talked
to us, it was clear that due to their sin their “foolish
heart was darkened.” In the Contemporary English
Version, the second half of that verse reads, “Their
thoughts are useless, and their stupid minds are in the dark.”
The context surrounding this verse describes man’s choice to turn
away from God in ingratitude and idolatry. This pattern of rebellion leads
to God’s ultimate decision to give them over to their own lusts.

"Brazen
in their depravity, they flout their sins like degenerate
Sodom. Doom to their souls! They've made their bed; now they'll
sleep in it." Is. 3:9 (The Message) |

“So
God let these people go their own way. They did what they
wanted to do, and their filthy thoughts made them do shameful
things with their bodies” Rom, 1:24 (CEV). |
 |
"A
woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's
clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this."
Deut 22:5 |
|
 |
"In
the same way the men also exchanged natural relations with
women and were inflamed with lust for one another." Romans
1:27 |
|
Romans
chapter one continues by stating that women and men both gave up natural
sexual fulfillment to choose homosexuality. The homosexual behavior started
in the mind and heart that turned away from God. Numerous times as we
had an opportunity to speak to individuals we found that their reasoning
made absolutely no sense. Their darkened hearts and foolish thinking contradicted
themselves over and over. Many claimed to be Christians, yet denied that
homosexuality was wrong. One woman even said that she believed what God
said about homosexuality in Leviticus, but she refused to apply that to
her own life.

John
and Dan speak, using scripture, to a pair of homosexual women
who claimed to be "saved" and against homosexuality,
but stated because they "loved" one another, and
because "God is love" their relationship is acceptable
to the Lord. |
 |
Dean
speaks to a homosexual woman, who later allowed for us to
pray for her. She believed that she was a sinner and was very
receptive to the truth that the saints shared with her. Her
friends tried hard to get her not to pray with us, but she
refused their requests. |
|
Adding
to the confusion were the numerous “churches” that joined
in the parade. These synagogues of Satan proclaim Christ, yet condone
homosexuality. While we understand that the two cannot go together, the
homosexual congregations claim that the two can go hand in hand. They
showed up with their enthusiasm for jesus, a god apart from scripture,
claiming him to be the Jesus of the Bible. To the observer who is lost
in their sin, the natural choice would be to stay with the group that
did not demand repentance or change. If one can have homosexuality and
Jesus, there is not reason to alter one’s lifestyle.
 |
"For
such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading
as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades
as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants
masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be
what their actions deserve." 2 Cor. 11:13-15 |
 |
"...No
one repents of his wickedness, saying 'What have I done?"
Each pursues his own course like a horse charging into battle."
Jer. 8:6 |
|
 |
"...prophets
and priests alike all practice deceit. They dress the wounds
of My people as though it were not serious. 'Peace, Peace,'
they say, when there is no peace. Are they ashamed of their
loathesome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do
not even know how to blush." Jer. 8:10-12 |
 |
"I
did not send these prophets, yet they run with their message;
I did not speak to them, yet they have prophesied." Jer.
23:21 |
|
 |
"Many
will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy
in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform
many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew
you. Away from Me, you evildoers!'" Matt 7:21-23 |
|
However,
amidst the sadness and confusion, Christ’s all pervading light shined
directly into the darkness. Souls did hear the truth, and who knows what
God will do with His Word in their hearts. We did not leave discouraged
for we know that our job is to remain faithful to proclaim the gospel.
Our hearts burn with hope and love for each one of the homosexuals that
we saw at the parade. We know that if they repent, God will hear their
prayer and save them from their sin!
