OSA Brings Christian Witness to Dallas Gay Pride Parade

OSA Brings Christian Witness to Dallas Gay Pride Parade
Sunday, September 19, 2004
By Brenda Spurlock
Expanded with addition by John Reyes September 28, 2004

Operation Save America brought the message of the tough love of the Lord to approximately 1,500 Dallas Gay Pride parade participants, Sunday, September 19. Scripture signs appealed to the lost to seek Jesus. A warning concerning the eternal consequences of sin was sounded by John Reyes and other street ministers. Hundreds of “I Was Gay,” pamphlets by Stephen Bennett were handed out, in addition to salvation pamphlets & CDs, Jesus videos, and New Testaments.

Lupe lives in the neighborhood where the parade was held and had been out jogging when he stopped to talk to us. He said when his sex partner died of AIDs twenty years ago, he promised God he would never again engage in homosexual acts if God would spare him from AIDs. He was spared and he has kept his promise, but he said he suffers from strong sexual temptations that still torment his mind. He said he was glad we were there. He believed God had sent us because he needed someone to talk to.

Lupe confided that he had been molested by an older brother at the age of six. We listened, counseled and encouraged him, urging him to find a church home where he would have the teaching and support he needs. Then, laying hands on him, we prayed for God's strong help in quelling the temptations of Satan. Before he left, one young woman, a Christ for the Nations student, searched through several index cards with handwritten verses she had prepared. “I have a Scripture just for you,” she told Lupe, handing him Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear... for I will strengthen you and help you.”

Jan came with Carole LaFraniere from Fort Worth to join our gay outreach. She told us she is a member of a wonderful church with a top-notch prayer ministry, but she had grown discouraged with the idea of ever getting church members outside the walls of the church. Finally she gave up and struck out on her own, handing out witnessing tracts in downtown Fort Worth. She found the LaFranieres though the Operation Save America web site when she did a search for Fort Worth ministries.

Jan feels a special tenderness towards those lost in homosexual sin because someone very dear to her lived that ‘death'style before repenting, accepting the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord, and being transformed by the renewing of her mind (Rom 12:1-2) Before the end of the day Jan had led Chris, a young homosexual, in the Sinner's Prayer, which brought smiles to the faces and joy to the hearts of all of us.

Addition to Report by John D. Reyes

Every year when September comes around, everyone involved with O.S.A.-Dallas becomes a little restless. We know that the homosexual parade is coming up and that we must be a truthful witness at the event.

"A truthful witness gives honest testimony, but a false witness tells lies." Prov 12:17

"A truthful witness does not deceive, but a false witness pours out lies." Prov 14:5

"A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is deceitful." Prov 14:25

We know that there is a possibility that perhaps one or more of us may get assaulted by militant homosexuals who hate everything the Gospel stands for. Sometimes the thought may even cross our minds that the homosexual is too hardened to even want to listen to what we have to say to them. However, we also know that present at the parade are shepherds in wolves clothing, inhabited by a different spirit, bearing false witness, pouring out lies, and preaching a different Jesus, and a different gospel. They desire to devour the homosexuals with their pseudo-Christianity.

This year the parade seemed to have more wolves in it than usual. If Jesus was here today, He would treat these wolves just as he did the Pharisees of his day. He showed no compassion to the leaders of the religious establishment who were bent on doing evil. So, we went to the parade in a prophetic manner to proclaim judgment on a people, city and a nation who would applaud such deviance.

They came with their floats singing Christian praise & worship and acting like Christians. The devil is the best counterfeiter there ever was. They had their hands lifted up to heaven and sang songs like "Jesus Loves the Little Children," "Shackles," "He's Got the Whole World," and "Open the Eyes of My Heart."

"White Rock Community Church " and its homosexual pastor even had professional banners that read, "Pointing people to Jesus through Reaching," "Pointing People to Jesus Through Teaching," "Pointing People to Jesus through Celebrating."

At one point in the parade, a men's choir, marching in the parade, boasted about their evil in song. They stood directly across the road from us and sang these words to us:

I ain't afraid of your Bible!
I ain't afraid of your Jesus!
I ain't afraid of your church!
I ain't afraid of your prayers!

I'm afraid of what you do with the Name of your God!

Rise up to your Higher Power
Free up from fear that will devour
Watch out for the evil of the hour
The Letter of the Law is the spirit of love

I ain't afraid of your Bible!
I ain't afraid of your Jesus!
I ain't afraid of your church!
I ain't afraid of your prayers!

I'm afraid of what you do with the Name of your God!

Watch out!
The ones who say they know it
are the one's who will impose it..on ya'

This was our response:

"Why do you boast of evil, you mighty man?
Why do you boast all day long,
you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?
Your tongue plots destruction;
it is like a sharpened razor,
you who practice deceit.
You love evil rather than good,
falsehood rather than speaking the truth.
You love every harmful word,
O you deceitful tongue!

Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin:
He will snatch you up and tear you from your tent;
he will uproot you from the land of the living.

The righteous will see and fear;
they will laugh at him, saying,
"Here now is the man
who did not make God his stronghold
but trusted in his great wealth
and grew strong by destroying others!"

But I am like an olive tree
flourishing in the house of God;
I trust in God's unfailing love
for ever and ever.
I will praise you forever for what you have done;
in your name I will hope, for your name is good.
I will praise you in the presence of your saints."
Psalm 52

It would be an understatement to say that the parade was disturbing. Men in underwear dancing around, women who looked like men on Harley Davidson's and drag queens glorying in their perversion.

However, at one point all of our jaws dropped when we noticed an incredibly graphic float. It was black with flames and the people were dressed as demons. One homosexual had a sign that read "God hates us!" Walking along the float was a man dressed in a black hood and robe. He stopped for a while and stared at us with his eyes that pierced through the two holes in his hood. In his hands he had a baby doll with a noose around its neck. Along with him, another man with a skull mask walked along the route. Attached to his hand was a rope that dragged a baby doll on the ground behind him. The float, when it turned the corner was dragging a dozen baby dolls behind it. Homosexuality and abortion go hand in hand. The same devil that hates children takes pride in homosexuality. The battle is not about abortion or homosexuality, it is about who is Lord! Satan knows this! He showed his true colors. He let the city and the Church know that he hates children (born and unborn) and is behind the homosexual establishment as well. It was plain as day.

The booth that we had set up in the park was kicked out, but that did not deter our faithful sisters Carol LaFreniere and Brenda Spurlock from setting it up across the street and from going into the park to hand out Stephen Bennett's tract "I was Gay."

The police officer in charge was a gift from the Lord to us. He constantly asked if we were alright and if there was anything he could do for us. He told me that he had never seen something so horrible as the parade and would probably never do that beat again.

That is not the case with the new police chief of Dallas ! He marched in the parade, as did the Mayor and her family, members of the city council, the Fire Chief and the Constable.
