Out of the Heart of the Cathedral of Despair

Out of the Heart of the Cathedral of Despair
By Missi Owen

“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness…maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness…haters of God, violent, proud… disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.”
Romans 1:28-32

“Do you have any idea how bad I’d like to pummel you right now?!... But I’d lose my license for it!” These were the words spoken by the so-called personal investigator hired by the Cathedral of Hope, the nation’s largest homosexual church. He angrily spat these words into the face of a young man who had proclaimed the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ- that the LORD could set him free from his sin of homosexuality. Through gnashed teeth he growled, “I’d love to see your head on the tip of a sword!”

The first chapter of Romans is lived out before our very eyes every Tuesday as we greet the youth of the “Cathedral of Despair” with the true hope in Jesus Christ. We stand boldly, unashamed of the gospel (vs. 16). But there are those who suppress the truth in unrighteousness (vs. 18). These wolves abort young minds in a place of perversion. Forming a physical line-urging them not to talk to us.

Once inside, the teen’s questions are answered with humanistic ideology. “We don’t look to a god, or a bible for guidance,” answered one of the counselors, “we look to ourselves and what we have experienced, and what feels right to us.” They have changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man (vs. 23). They have made themselves God.

“Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves.”
Romans 1:24

During a recent meeting, two young men crept out of the boarded-up building for a smoke break. Loud R&B music blaring from the car stereo, the two entwined themselves, dancing and kissing. Soon, they were joined by all the kids. Encouraged by their leaders, they transformed the parking lot into a rave scene. Young men were lustfully dancing for each other-dishonoring their bodies amongst themselves.

As we watched this, our hearts broke for the kids. The Bible says in Romans 1:26-27 that there is a penalty for this error. The most prominent physical penalty is death. According to the Washington Post, Michael Piazza, the Dean of the Cathedral of Hope, “just after he arrived, conducted 18 funerals and memorial services in January of 1988 alone.” “There have been 1400 deaths from AIDS since I’ve been here,” Piazza is quoted.

Furthermore, there is a penalty emotionally and spiritually, which is also death. Romans 1:28 says, “…God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting.” OSA-Dallas (www.osadallas.org) has personally witnessed these dark deeds, as the love of Jesus Christ is rejected by the middle fingers, spewed curses, and violent threats and intimidation tactics of this intolerant group.

The final word to the hired personal investigator and the rest of the predators who preside over this deceitful refuge of hope is this: “…who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.” (Rom. 1:32) According to Romans 3:31, God’s moral laws are not abolished by the gospel of Christ. Christ obeyed the law by His death-to pay the due penalty (death) for us. On this, we establish that through the gospel of Jesus Christ, God’s moral standards are eternal and unchanging. Homosexuality is sin.

The final word to the saints who boldly stand in the gap at the homosexual gate of Dallas is this: “The just shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:17) No matter how many times we are rejected, pushed down, mocked, spat upon, or cursed we will not give up on the Hopeless Youth.
