Friday March 16, 2001 The Killing Center Where Jane Roe Encountered Jesus is Now Closed! In a startling piece of good news for the pro-life community in Texas, the abortion mill where Norma McCorvey gave her heart to Christ through the witness of two young girls from Operation Rescue has closed its doors for good. "A Choice for Women" became a high profile abortion clinic nationally in 1995 when Operation Rescue relocated its offices right next to it. One of the workers at that mill was the Jane Roe of Roe v Wade, Norma McCorvey. Time, Newsweek, and USA Today predicted that there would be violence as these two foes in the abortion battle were now side by side. There was violence, but it was a violence of a different sort. The heart of Norma McCorvey, the poster child of the pro-choice movement, was violently freed from the one who used her to rob, kill, and destroy and was now safely in the arms of Jesus. Not only did Norma give her heart to Christ, but six other em- ployees of "A Choice for Women" came to Christ and left the mill. In the year's time that Operation Rescue officed there, "A Choice for Women" became the national focal point of the abortion battle. Norma's change of heart and view became major news throughout the world and sent shudders through the pro-choice movement. "Abortion is, at its root, preeminently a Gospel issue," said Rev. Flip Benham, National Director of Operation Rescue. "When the Church of Jesus Christ allows its theology to become biography in the streets of our cities the battles are being won. What changed Miss Norma's view on abortion was a heart change. Only Christ can do that! There are no legislative remedies." The closing of "A Choice for Women" marks the sixth closing of an abortion mill in Dallas since 1991. This is commensurate with the large national decline in the number of abortion mills, abortionists, and abortions. "There were 12 abortion mills in Dallas in 1988 when we first began this ministry," said Rev. Benham, "Today there are only six. The battle for the lives of little boys and girls is being won on the streets. We give all praise to God." For more information: Rev. Flip Benham 972-272-2664 or 214-707-9396
