Youth Storming the Gates in Dallas, TX

Youth Storming the Gates in Dallas, TX
Report from Brenda Spurlock

Over 40 youth and adults from Calvary Hill Baptist Church, plus members of Lavon Drive Baptist Church gathered at Dallas's North Park abortion mill Saturday morning to preach, read Scripture, pray, hold signs, sing praises to the Lord, and pass out literature to the moms entering these gates of hell. For most, this was the first time they had ever taken a public stand.

Neil Sandlin, Calvary Hill's youth minister, said he simply made an announcement during church services that anyone wanting to go to North Park mill was welcome to join him. The youth responded with great enthusiasm, Neil said. “They've seen their generation being destroyed by sex, drugs and other sins; they have a strong desire to live out their faith beyond the walls of the church building, to make a difference,” he said.

According to Neil, the youth group plans to return to the mill once a month.

Youth group member, Lisa Bagnall, considered it “a great opportunity to come and affect someone's life.” She said she wanted to be a part of the outreach “and save a life.” She said she'll definitely come back.

When explaining his reasons for coming out to the mill, Lavon Drive 's youth minister, Denny Smith, admitted, “Flip Benham did some work on me when I was young.” Denny and Flip's sons were friends he said, so he was often in the company and influence of Flip.

For those of you that were at the national event in Dallas several years ago. Calvary Hill is the church that hosted our rallies.
