When we met to pray this morning, David Benham told us he wanted to let us know what Rod Parsley said about Operation Save America following the Sunday sign outreach to World Harvest Church . He and his family attended morning service there. David said they have never been in a church with theatrics before and was a little overwhelmed as the spotlights flashed on the audience and the drums rolled. He said as the curtains slowly lifted to reveal a huge choir resplendent in purple and silver robes, one of his sons asked," Can I go pet the dolphins?" David said, "He thought we were at Sea World. The choir members must have looked like dolphins to him."

David told us Brother Parsley said that he had a sermon prepared but instead he was just going to talk to them. He quoted Hosea 4:6, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge," then asked, "Who is destroyed by lack of knowledge? My people! Not the homosexuals, not those getting abortions, they are just misinformed." He said, "What we’ve got to do is establish the center for moral clarity. We have to get the information out so that will change." He added, "On the other hand, what we have outside is a group of people who think their way is the only way, who think shouting the law of God is the way to go. But we’re not under the law any more we’re under…here his congregation shouted…‘the spirit!’"

David said, as he continued the story, "I thought about Matthew 5:18 , where Jesus says heaven and earth will pass before a single stroke of the law passes away." He said Brother Parsley went on to talk about 2 Chronicles 7:14. When he got to the word "humble" that’s when he pinpointed that he was speaking of Operation Save America. He asked the congregation if they had ever seen haughtiness, pride, or arrogance. He said, "Well I did this morning walking in here. Christians must be a people of humility. I tried to speak to the protesters and they stuck their fingers in their ears. They just won’t listen." (David told us that six weeks prior to our coming Coach Daubmire tried to get World Harvest Church on board with us, but they would not listen.)

Rod Parsley told the congregation, "Nobody had to get out of my way for me to speak with George W. Bush. I was in there personally one to one and he was personally thanking me for the wonderful job I did with 1 ¼ million petitions for the partial birth abortion ban that I gathered."

When David concluded his story, Pastor Flip reminded us of the relationship between God’s law and His grace. He quoted Galatians 3:24, "The Law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ." He said, "That’s why John the Baptist came before Jesus and the Old Testament came before the New. He asked, "Why are the Ten Commandments in a closet in Alabama ? Why does the Devil want to get rid of the Law? Can the Law save us? No! Then what does the Law do for us? It shows us our sinful state before God. It humbles us. God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble."

Morning Prayer

Monday, 7 am: After prayer and praise and a word from David and Flip Benham outside the hotel, we divided up into our groups and went out to visit local abortionists at their private practices.

Later we assembled outside City Hall as Pastor Rusty Thomas read the Emancipation Proclamation. The pastors of Columbus area churches led the saints in signing the proclamation.

The opposing side comprised of the usual proabortion and rainbow waving crowd was on hand. One man in particular stretched free speech to its breaking point as he shouted hate filled obscenity and blasphemy. A police officer told us that thirty years ago he could have arrested him but now days there is nothing he can do.
