9-13-05 Hurricane Outreach Update
By Flip Benham with Brenda Spurlock

I spoke with Pastor Sam Green this morning. He is at the High Place in Jackson, MS. He's the most excited man on the face of this earth! He and his church have been planning for this trip to hurricane ravaged Mississippi and Louisiana for the past 2 ½ weeks. Thanks to the generous donations of the Palm Bay people, they brought a generator, personal hygiene items in individual bags, diapers, toilet paper, paper towels, cans of food, water, drinks and more

They came with four vehicles, 12 missionaries, a suburban to give to the folks in New Orleans, and hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone. They brought propane and gas cookers. Pastor Sam said, “Flip, We have a loaf of bread in one hand and the Bread of Life in the other.” He followed the very best way to give. He's got the food, the Jesus signs and shirts, the Bibles, the sound system and the vision!

Pastor Sam's wife Lisa is with him. This afternoon they're embarking to New Orleans with a yellow bus packed with food and supplies. Pat Pinkston is hauling a 12 foot Uhaul trailer also packed to the hilt with food, and they are taking our ‘Jesus is the Standard' RV down to the battlefront again.

Pastor Sam says he has several young people with him who can hardly wait to get out into the streets and present the loaf of bread and the Bread of Life. It is such a beautiful thing when you hear Saints ready to go into battle no matter the cost.

I spoke with Bro Bill Shanks yesterday and he related how overwhelmed he is with the kindness of the brothers and sisters from OSA and the Church of Jesus Christ. He will be in Washington, DC, September 16, for observance of the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance for Victims of Hurricane Katrina, and he's planning on joining us in Wichita for an OSA Regional Event October 5, 6, 7, and 8. He'd like to thank you personally.
